Frequency increases make the offer even more attractive for hauliers

Now the time has come: The first expansion phase is being realised and brings several new features for freight forwarders and logistics companies: As early as 3 August 2021, intermodal loading units can also be routed via the MegaHub to the Swedish combined transport terminal Malmö operated by Mertz with three weekly train departures. An expansion to four departures per week and direction will be added to our timetable on 6 September. On the same day, Hamburg-Billwerder and the Port of Kiel will also be connected to the innovative national and international transport network for the first time. Both routes will be in operation five times a week. In Kiel Schwedenkai and Ostuferhafen will be served.

FreqFrequency increases for even more climate-friendly transports

With five national connections and one international connection, we began integrating the fast transshipment facility into the Intermodal network together with DB Cargo in April 2021. After five months of successful operation of all train connections, frequency increases are now on the agenda. Experience since the start of traffic has clearly shown that the Lehrte MegaHub complements our gateway strategy almost perfectly and takes it to a new level. The possibilities for routing semi-trailers, swap bodies and containers across Germany and Europe have thus increased noticeably for our customers in our extensive network.

“The topics of CO2 pricing and driver shortage alone have once again increased demand for our service in the first half of the year. This now has a positive effect on the departure density of the trains.”

Alexander Ochs, General Management

There will be even more attractive train services on four connections. From 6 September, there will be five weekly departures in both directions from and to Lübeck CTL (Lehmann Terminal), Munich-Riem and Verona Interterminal. Duisburg Ruhrort Hafen DUSS will be expanded to four departures per week and direction at the same time, before the fifth train departure will follow in October.
